Why theater?: What can I say without sounding like a cliché? At the end of the day I am addicted to a drug, and that drug is applause.
Who do you play in God is a Woman?: Avery (and good lord is he crazy…)
Tell us about God is a Woman: I honestly don’t know what this play is about. Or maybe instead of saying that, I should say that I keep changing my mind about what the play is about. If you were to put a gun to my head… I guess I would say that it is about what happens when the victimized are pushed to their limit, and they start to push back. But that still doesn’t seem quite right.
What is it like being a part of God is a Woman?: It’s a rollercoaster! New Works like this one can be so polarizing. And since this bad boy leans toward the avant-garde there were a bunch of times where we found ourselves beating our heads against the wall. It just makes it that much more satisfying when you finally break through.
What kind of theater speaks to you? What or who inspires you as an artist?: Anything that makes me lose myself in it. Doesn’t matter what kind of show it is.
Any roles you’re dying to play?: Edmund from King Lear. I mean, what a badass!
What’s your favorite showtune?: MEMORIEEEEEES! ALL ALONE IN THE MOOOOON LIIIIIIIIIGHT!
If you could work with anyone you’ve yet to work with, who would it be?: Daniel Day Lewis. Just imagine the joy it must be to play alongside such unbridled creative energy. I mean it boarders on madness! And I think that, if I proved able to abstain from soiling my pants in fear, it would be the best work I’d ever do.
Who would play you in a movie about yourself and what would it be called?: Lindsay Lohan, “Mean Girls 3”
If you could go back in time and see any play or musical you missed, what would it be?: Probably Brando in Streetcar. Either that or Houdini.
What show have you recommended to your friends?: It’s called “Bad Ink,” and it was originally on A&E, but you can also watch it on Netflix. Its basically just these two crazy old tattoo artists trolling Las Vegas for Bad tattoos that they then proceed to do a mediocre cover up over. It’s liquid gold.
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?: It’s called “Bad Ink,” and it was originally on A&E, but you can also watch it on Netflix. Its basically just these two crazy old tattoo artists trolling Las Vegas for Bad tattoos that they then proceed to do a mediocre cover up over. It’s liquid gold.
What’s up next?: One of my old teachers used to say, “The most sure fire way to book a job is to plan a vacation.” With that said, I’m gonna get outta town for a little bit.
