Spotlight On...Tim Heller

Name: Tim Heller

Hometown: Libertyville, IL

Education: BFA Musical Theatre Texas State University

Select Credits: Texas Shakespeare Festival

Why theater?: Why Not! It's a place to disconnect the tech and experience humans on stage!

Who do you play in EverScape?: Foster

Tell us about EverScape: An epic tale of love, video games, and pwning noobs.

What is it like being a part of EverScape?: This experience has been unlike any other. The first week of rehearsals was learning how to become a video game character and we were running around for four hours every night jumping, fighting, casting spells, and bruising our bodies for art. The entire team has created an extremely safe environment to experiment and fall on your ass and not be judged.

What kind of theater speaks to you? What or who inspires you as an artist?: I love new works. Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 was probably the best piece of theatre I've ever seen. Simply because no one had ever done anything like it ever and it dealt with real human experience. All original music, costumes, and environment to experience it in.

Any roles you’re dying to play?: I would love to just be Steven Pasquale.

What’s your favorite showtune?: I love the classics. "Soliloquy" from Carousel tells such a complete story and when John Raitt sings it... I mean it's John Raitt

If you could work with anyone you’ve yet to work with, who would it be?: I feel like Casey Nicholaw and I would have a lot of fun together. If you're out there Casey, I'm ready.

Who would play you in a movie about yourself and what would it be called?: I would have Jennifer Lawrence play an academy award winning, gender bender version of me in the biographical, Growing Up Absurd.

If you could go back in time and see any play or musical you missed, what would it be?: opening night of the original True West production at Steppenwolf

What show have you recommended to your friends?: EverScape. Duh.

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?: I love the Food Network. Everything but he daytime shows.

What’s up next?: Who knows! If Casey gives me a call I will hang with him but in the meantime just keeping the positive attitude and doing theatre!
